What to expect: Soft Tissue Work

Soft tissue work could include working on muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. One of the techniques that I use is something sometimes referred to as Graston, or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). There are a lot of different tools. I use this particular tool. It is a scraping tool. This tool can help bring in more blood flow and wake up the neurovascular system so that they will start moving better and healing quicker. When you have this done on an area that needs work, it usually is “bumpy” or “gritty” type feeling. These are some of the things, adhesions or scar tissue, in the soft tissue that aren’t right. This treatment is trying to break that up by getting the brain to become aware of the area and come back and try and reconfigure everything as well as bring in more blood flow to improve healing. Another soft tissue tool I use is a fancy massager. This tool helps with loosening up muscle so that adjustments are easier or to help you feel good in general. I also use my hands as well to stretch and loosen soft tissue. Thanks for watching and we will discuss more things to expect next time.

Give your soft tissue a little different treatment and get moving better today by calling and getting one of our same day appointments available.

There are a lot of factors that can how long it will take to get over any particular injury and this video touches on a few of those. The big ones that I like to bring up are previous injury and how long has the injury been around. For those with chronic injuries, it will take longer to heal because we are trying to get you to move away from your compensation patterns and move like you did prior to injuries. Knowing what to expect on healing time will not only help you get better today, but will help you when the injury likely returns.
