Making Lifestyle Modifications

What are your plans for the new year to help you get on the right path health wise? If you are trying to make yourself better in some way, we are here to help. We focus a lot here at Summit to Shore Chiropractic about teaching lifestyle modifications and slight changes for you to manage a lot of your conditions on your own. There may always be a need for treatment of various types and medication, but sometimes those minor changes can make a world of difference for longer durations. For example, someone coming in with low back complaints would get adjustments, soft tissue work, and/or stretches, but also, I would go over some exercises for them to do at home and activities to modify to stop worsening the condition and make things improve faster. Another specific example would be our posture. If we are in any position for an extended period, it is not good for us. By making small changes to our posture throughout the day or just getting up and moving around, we can start feeling significantly better and almost take no extra effort out of our day. I love my patients here in Tahoe because most of the people I see are at least trying to stay active and I am not having to motivate people to move but teach them the right activities and movements to make in order to improve their health and wellbeing.

For those who want to push themselves to move and feel better, coming in for an assessment can be a great proactive approach to your health. With that assessment, it will give you direction on how to manage your concerns or weak links and make them strengths before a problem ever even shows up. We focus on this and teach this all the time because it is so much easier for the doctor and the patient to stay healthy than to get healthy. If you are waiting till you have to crawl in the door before getting treatment, it will take significantly longer to get back to what you love than if you were to address the small concerns as they come. At Summit to Shore Chiropractic, it is a vital part of our goal to help give you the tools needed to help yourself between visits and when your condition has resolved.

As you focus on your goals for the new year, make sure you have a good foundation of movement and know your weak points to improve on them. We are here to give you some of those steps to reach your goals with treatment and those modifications to start incorporating into your daily life.

What factors can effect my healing time?

What factors can effect my healing time?

There are a lot of factors that can how long it will take to get over any particular injury and this video touches on a few of those. The big ones that I like to bring up are previous injury and how long has the injury been around. For those with chronic injuries, it will take longer to heal because we are trying to get you to move away from your compensation patterns and move like you did prior to injuries. Knowing what to expect on healing time will not only help you get better today, but will help you when the injury likely returns.
