How much chiropractic care do I need? Will I need to go for the rest of my life? How long will it take before I get better?

To start, it is different than going to your primary care physician where you would go once and then be done. Typically, you won’t go to a chiropractor just once and you be all good to go for an extended period of time, sometimes but not usually. There are a lot of factors that will determine how long the injury will last. If you have been moving different for an extended amount of time, it will take you longer to adapt and start moving a different way compared to someone that this type of injury just occurred. For example, moving your arm without your shoulder coming up is a hard habit to change if it has been there for some time, but is a common problem for chronic shoulder injuries. Chiropractic care helps to try to get things moving along faster. Normally, it will take more than one visit, although sometimes it can get significantly better in one visit, it is not realistic to expect that type of improvement.

Committing yourself to a treatment plan to get started and see if treatment works is a good recommendation. Become proactive, get involved in your treatment, and just get started will make a big difference in the outcome of your treatment. Continued care is up to you and your doctor and what your health goals include. In short, a few visits up front will be important to get you going in the right direction and get you to improve your movement after your injury already has changed your movement. It all depends on the injury and how you and your body react to treatment.
